The Canyon and the lake Matka is on about 20 km from Skopje. This natural monument is frequently visited by people from Skopje and its surroundings. But lately the are a lot of visits by foreigners.

This is the right place if you want to breath together with nature. Matka is the place with a lot of endemic animals, plants and butterflys that are unknown for science. The most impassive are the 10 caves, among which the cave Vrelo. Is one of the deepest under water caves in Europe and the world.
